Yuchan Deng is a cinematographer originally from China, with over a decade of working and studying in Los Angeles. She holds an M.F.A. in Cinematography from the American Film Institute and is a BAFTA Connect member.
Her work is drawn to stories that exist between cultures — characters navigating identity, belonging, and the distance between where they come from and where they are. She brings a quiet attentiveness to her images, finding the emotional truth in a frame before reaching for beauty.
She has worked with clients including Disney+, Gentle Monster, and Jaded London, and her narrative films have screened at festivals worldwide, including Urbanworld Film Festival and Los Angeles Asian Pacific Film Festival. She recently completed principal photography on a feature film set in 1990s Los Angeles, starring Emma Halleen, currently in post-production.
